Please enjoy your day at the office

Sleepwalking off the tube this morning at Canary Wharf, I heard over the tannoy: "Please enjoy your day at the office".

Surrounded by hundreds of other sleepwalkers, I realised that we were almost all headed for an office. All in our grey, black and navy clothes, shuffling along the platform, up the escalators, separated for a moment to be herded through the barriers like sheep - reformed again to face another set of escalators and spill out into the beautiful, crisp early morning sunshine. Only to shuffle off to our offices and ignore the outside world till it gets dark. Bye bye real world... until tomorrow.
